Plants

It is our goal to grow high quality plants for the novice and expert gardener alike. Whether we start from seed, cuttings or bare root, we treat every plant to our expert care and knowledge, with Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and water conservation in mind. Each year we offer the tried and true traditional plants in addition to the newest varieties, keeping in mind zone hardiness and local micro-climates and gardening needs. We grow 99% of our plants so we can honestly tell the customer how the plants grow.

Stroll through our many greenhouses and outdoor displays for a splash of color and a dash of inspiration. We offer a wide selection of annuals and beautiful plant combos in hanging baskets or ready-to-display containers. If you are interested in more permanent gardens we provide a wide selection of perennials and limited small shrubs for multi-season interest as well as wildlife habitat value.

For “Foodies” we offer herbs and veggie starts, some ready as soon as early May (weather permitting). Also available are small fruit shrubs like blueberries and raspberries. Contact us about special order volume programs. As homeowner interest in growing food increases, we are geared towards providing the plants and knowledge to help make you successful.

As avid gardeners we take great pride and pleasure in sharing technical knowledge as well as anecdotal experience with all of our customers. First and foremost we want people to experiment with plants and enjoy gardening.

Increased publicity about the decline of pollinators has prompted a strong drive for county and state extension educators to offer information programs to educate gardeners about developing and improving the landscape for pollinators. Crucial to maintaining healthy populations is the ability to provide food sources throughout the entire growing season which starts in late April and ends in early November. This means there should be a variety of plants blooming, not monocultures. We strive to grow a variety of annuals, perennials and shrubs that meet those needs. We encourage perennial gardens for pollinators and tag all pots that are prime food sources, but we also encourage growing long-blooming, cold-hardy annuals like Salvia that often bloom into November, as they are great companions to Sedum, Asters and Eupatorium. Whether you are growing in a raised bed or have thousands of square feet we can help you find the right mix to make you and your pollinators happy.
