About Us

2026 marks our twenty-fourth year in business. In the summer of 2001 we decided to use our combined knowledge as hobby gardeners and our experiences working at a local farm stand to start the process of building our retail garden center. With the final seal on the greenhouses on Christmas Eve 2001 we launched our new business. Since the spring of 2002 we have been growing (two exceptions: mums & poinsettias) and selling plant material, bulk bark mulch, compost and topsoil plus the gardening supplies and accessories necessary for a fruitful gardening experience. In addition to growing plants for spring, summer and fall displays we make hundreds (now over a thousand…) wreaths of mixed native greens plus roping and urns for the holiday season. All of these are made on site and 99% of the greens are harvested locally by our head grower.

In addition to the fresh greens we offer a wide selection of supplies and accessories for customers to dabble in creating their own decorations.

There have been many challenges navigating the retail world and balancing the needs of customers and plants, in addition to raising a family. This means working at odd hours, even when the open flag is not up and having to adapt quickly to changes in the weather. Each year we are faced with some predictable routines as well as forced to tackle problems out of our control; sporadic weather patterns, pandemics, shipping issues and health emergencies. We run a tight ship with three full-time employees, one full-time seasonal employee and two part-time employees (the third generation of our family) who help out when they are not working at their full-time jobs. We are greatly appreciative of all of our customers and are constantly evaluating the best way to serve you and provide a safe and peaceful environment that allows customers to appreciate the calming influence and benefits of gardening.

As we approach our twenty-fourth year we continue to be focused on providing high quality plant material and the tools and supplies to help beginner and experienced gardeners alike. From our inception we have utilized the tools of automatic irrigation to balance work efficiency and water conservation. These systems were particularly significant in the summer of 2025. We also continue to research more environmentally friendly packaging and have switched over 50 % of our annual pots to fiber-based containers, and 100% of our annual pack production to fiber-pots. Vegetables and herbs also continue to be grown in fiber. We are experimenting with growing perennials in fiber pots and look forward to seeing how they survived the overwintering process.

Whether you are new to gardening or have many decades of gardening under your belt, we look forward to providing you with the plants and tools to make your gardening experience successful and rewarding.
